Another option to travel faster through Costa Rica is to use the domestic flights or the charter flights.
Two domestic airlines offer daily scheduled flights, each one flying to 15 destinations in small propeller aircrafts.

Consider this when planning your domestic flight:

• Check-in time at local airports is 45 minutes prior to departure.
• Adults and children occupying a seat are allowed to take 25 pounds (12 kg) luggage per person, including carry-on and camera equipment. Excess baggage is charged per pound and is transported depending on aircraft's weight capacity. We recommend you to plan ahead, bring an extra piece of luggage that can be locked and left in storage at your hotel in San José.
• Oversized items such as surfboards, windsurf equipment, bicycles and others are subject to space availability and incur an additional service charge.
• Inter-destination flights are available during the high season (December to April).
• National air regulations require the names in full (first and last name) of clients flying with domestic airlines. Please give us this information when requesting your flight reservations.
• Airports with a building infrastructure can be found in San José (International Airport and Tobías Bolanos Airport), and in Liberia (North Pacific). The other cities and towns have an airstrip for arrival and departure, some with a little office and toilets near the strip, but others only feature the required landing runway.
• Unused tickets are non-refundable and cannot be endorsed.
• Due to changing weather conditions and unexpected delays, we recommend you do not schedule your domestic flight for the same day as your international flights (unless your international flight departs late enough to allow you to be at the airport with sufficient anticipation).
